Why would anybody try to improve their steering box when a simple call to Flathead ted in NZ & and a few dollars later the best steering for 33/34's ever.
Well that's my story anyway. Kpar |

Flathead Ted (on here) rebuilds the 33/34 box-Actually more a re fabrication. He casts a new Steering box which is virtually the same size as the original and fits it out with upgraded internals. Steering shaft is all original and once installed you wouldn't be able to spot it's not original. Steering is light and precise like a modern car. Kpar and I both have RHD versions but he makes LHD as well. There are threads on it on Fordbarn .
I certainly loved mine . It is however currently out as I developed a front end shudder. As part of the diagnosis process I took the box out and replaced it with the original - only to find the shudder was alignment and suspension related. I haven't got round to putting the new box back in yet but I will do soon now I've fixed the other issues -Karl

Karl beat me to the punch, as he said ted makes up a new box which is hard to pick from the original with later gears. Only comment I had was there is some difference in steering tube length but I think Ted is now aware of that.
Have a look on Flathead Teds web site he had some pictures on there a while back Kpar |
