1934/1939 Ford running gear questions
So here is the deal. I have a complete running and driving mostly original 1939 ford frame When I say mostly original I mean it has a flathead with 39 transmission, Chassis engineering dropped front axle and an original banjo rear with a reversed eye rear spring. My question is that can I pull the front end, rear end, engine and transmission out of the 1939 frame and assemble it in the 1934 frame and will it bolt in and work? I realize that the frames are different but from the information I have found the wheel bases of the cars is the same (112") according to Mac's website. I have done some searching on the internet and cant seem to find an answer. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!!

Re: 1934/1939 Ford running gear questions
Don't think so. I believe the 39 axles are wider than the 34 and the 39 is setup for cross steering vs the drag system on the 34. I'm sure there's more.

Re: 1934/1939 Ford running gear questions
No.
The 39 is a spring in front design. You can retain the 34 axle and wishbone and fit the 39 spindles, hubs and brakes. The axle can be used if you modify the spring to fit the curved crossmember. The torque tube and drive shaft willl have to be shortened to suit. If you have the 34 running gear you can use some of those parts in conjunction with the 39 parts to build a 34 rolling chassis. You would also need to put an earlier rear mount on the trans and probably some of those U shaped spacers on the front mounts.

Re: 1934/1939 Ford running gear questions
The rear spring on the '34 is not 'straight across'. It bolts in a little ahead of C/L and the eyes are NOT parallel to the backing plates. DAMHIK...
