A 2bbl 'teapot' carburetor.
Aftermarket? Holley made them for Ford. It could be a 'Restored by Holley' carb
or New Old Stock / New Old Replacement Stock but it looks too clean to have been sitting for years.

This is just a guess to see how wrong I am when someone who really knows answers you.

'54 - 239ci, '55 or '56 Y-block 272 or 292(?) V8

It is brand new, and yes, I have had it for 20-25 years tucked away in a cabinet. Just discovered I still had it. The only haystack or "towering infernos" I have seen with is look is the 4 barrels. None of my Holley books show it and I have been able to get no information from google.

Some trucks used them also.

According to the Holley listing I have, it's aftermarket for a Volkswagon dune buggy believe it or not. Probably released around 1970. Holley model 1901 carb.

Also the same type carb used on '52 - '53 Mercury's and 1952 Lincoln 317's

It appears to be a HOLLEY 1901 2V Series.

Are there any ID Stamping Nos on the mounting flange?

The Holley tea pots were used on the 279 F700's, and four barrels on International, Reo, and White trucks. The truck models were mounted on, or incorporated a vacuum controlled governor.

Question Re: Holley carburetor List # R-6113

VW sounds plausible (beach buggies ).

I wonder why such an out-of-date design was chosen?

A message from Sal (scicala) let me know that the older style carb in Dick's photos was updated to a version called the Bug Spray, so I had to dig up this 1980 'blast from the past' photo.
This toy had one on it.

What I meant in my message was that the Bug Spray carb was made from the 3 bolt Holley 94 type carb with a four bolt base. The one Dick showed was a Holley 1901 model also made for a VW buggy.

Oh, then I showed the wrong photo?

Sorry about that. Dune buggies are not my specialty...

The carb in your photo looks like the updated one to me, but I haven't had the red/white buggy for about 30 years now. CRS

A pretty fair amount of sand here but no beach or ocean. Desert off-road racing.

That red 2dr looks like a serious beast.
