bending new rain gutters
About 8 or 10 years ago I asked how to bend the new rain gutters on my sedan. There was a reply which showed how to bend it around a piece of plywood. I need help finding it again for a friend. Thanks in advance !!

Re: bending new rain gutters
You don’t say if the rain gutters are aluminum or steel. I had good results bending aluminum gutters by first separating the two parts and putting wax paper between them and after snapping them back together, bending the rear turn-down with a 1/2 inch conduit

Re: bending new rain gutters
I bent the turned down end arouind a cut to shape 2X4 . I used an old rain gutter layed over the wide side of the 2X4 to mark where the 2X4 needed to be cut to the shape the rain gutter needed to be . I attached a piece of plywood to the back side of the cut edge of the 2X4 to help keep the gutter from slipping off the edge of the 2X 4 when I was bending it . I placed the wood in my bench vise . Its good to have help to hold the long end of the gutter while the bending is being done . The repro aluminum gutters that I use are longer than the finished product will need to be after bending is done . Allow extra length on the bending end to allow room for leverage and the use of conduit or some sort of pipe to slip over for the end of the gutter for the actual bending . After the bending to the desired shape , the ends can be cut to the correct length . Other than that , I pretty much did like Del describes above . I used small screws to attach the inner part that the gutter snaps to the body instead of nails I figured that screws would be better because they would never back out like nails can do and screws would avoin the risk of bending .
