Default 40-41 Pickup Running Board w/Different Rear Fenders

I picked up a nice pair of 40-41 running boards at a swap and it wasn't until I got home that I noticed they were 4-5" shorter than stock.

Now, somewhere in my brain I remember about using later 40s and early 50s rear fenders on the 40 pickup. If so, in using 40 pup running boards with later fenders, would they need to be cut short about 4-5"?

I want to clean these boards up and sell them and I want to advertise them properly .... Thanks

Just for reference the stock ones are 69 1/2" on the outside edge.
