40 Fordor window glass
I need to replace the driver's window glass in my 1940 Fordor. I'd like to get a piece cut locally but have found Metropartsmarket.com offering the window for $32 + $29 shipping. Has anyone purchased from them? Mac's quotes $124.95 and I suspect they farm out the work and it gets drop shipped. Does anyone know if the national glass companies custom cut glass? The current window is together but has a crack so it could be used for a pattern. It was an education getting the door apart and the glass out. Thanks once again to Van Pelt and the many instructional diagrams on the web for making it not too difficult.

Re: 40 Fordor window glass
Your Metro price is good. Make sure it's the right thickness with the correct tint (if any) and that the edges are sealed black like the OEM was. Do you want a glass "bug" like the original?
Buy new window setting tape also. Have you tried getting it cut locally? Here's some viewpoints: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...=40+ford+glass Last edited by 19Fordy; 06-03-2016 at 05:18 PM. |

Re: 40 Fordor window glass
Try a local glass shop. I've used local shops with good results. It's flat glass so it's easy to cut and reinstall in the channel.

Just ask the glass company if they've done auto glass in the past. |
