The passenger side wing window (vent window??) has a 1/32" (??) gap along the entire edge where it's supposed to be snug against the upright. Any ideas how to adjust it (or rubber trim) so that it doesn't leak air AND water? TIA!

Are you talking about where it meets the weatherstrip on the division bar? You may be able to pull the glass straight back where it will seal.

If you can't adjust the glass it would be fairly inexpensive to replace with a piece that will fit. Maybe someone replaced it from a wrong model at the junk yard. Is it the same size as the drivers side (glass & opening)?

Believe it has a rubber molding strip & a piece may be missing. Bob Drake catalog #29 page 580 & see if that is what you need.

My 48has the same problem. I put new rubber seals or[ what ever there called.] When I did the restoration . The seals were very hard . liked to never get them installed. I guess they will just stay that way. Just like the door handles that sag.

does the vent window close completely and lock? if not I had to trim the rubber gasket with a razor blade, on my '41. Checked where frame touched the gasket and shaved material slightly until the window closed completely and locked

Take it from a 48 owner it is either the glass is too small or it is poorly adjusted in the frame or the upright bar is wrongly positioned .You might be able to get some adjustment by removing the interior door panel loosening off the bolts that hold the upright division in place and the small screw at the top of the division bar and sliding it across, if that adjustment has not already been taken up.

Sagging door handles are almost always caused by weak, broken, or incorrect springs in the latch body, or badly worn latch hole for the handle shank. check the square handle shank for wear. we build them up with the welder and than grind and file back to the correct dimension.

A poor man's fix for sagging door handles is a garden hose washer.

I read on this site about heating the door handle and then twisting it so when put back in it is straight.
