Question powder coating in Maine, NH or MA

Anyone know of a good powder coater who can do Model A rims in appropriate colors in New England for a fair price?
Thanks,

Thanks,
Here's the thing, there is no stock powder supplier that has Model A colors. there is/was a supplier that stocked a custom powder that was specially made in the model a shades. The reason I say is/was is due to a post a short time ago that said they ordered the powder and never received it. http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=145293

http://www.modelawheelcolors.com/ is the web site for the powder

Here is a powder coater. I've used him - but from what I heard he runs a little expensive.

A short distance from Route 95 and the Portsmouth Traffic Circle.
Powder Coating Alternatives

  1. Address: 25 Alden Ave, Greenland, NH 03840
    Phone:(603) 433-6886
    Hours:
    Open today · 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
He did a pair of AA shorty running boards for me. About $150 IIRC.

But he has a NICE blast setup, knew about short/long blast (using different grit sizes to surface condition severely pitted parts) and I had not question the preparation would be done correctly.

As I say, I would price out what you're getting.

Central Mass. Powder Coating in Clinton Ma. They do a great job and have the Model A colors. Do a search for their web site.

While we are on the topic, anyone know a good powder coating place in northern New Jersey which they would recommend?

There was a post some time back on the Ford Barn that mentioned the restorer powder coated his wheels himself. You can buy the powder coating equipment from Sears and many other places. It appears that you can buy the powder coating material, cheaper than regular paint. You need to obtain an old 36 in. oven capable of getting and maintaining 400 F (not in your house)! Also you need to make up a support for the wheel that you can use to slide the wheel into the oven without touching it. The wheel is baked for about 15 minutes.

I have spray painted wheels before and it was a very time consuming process getting the paint to go into all the required places. You don't have this problem with powder coating. I may be fun to try it. Ed

I second Joe K's recommendation above. Powder Coating Alternatives did 5 wheels for me back in 2009. Sand blast, undercoated each with a 25% zinc rich powder coat and finished them in gloss black for $443.75. The car is driven every week when I can and the wheels still look like they were done yesterday.

I agree with Barry B./MA and modelASteve. I too used Central Mass. Powder Coating and was very happy with the job they did and thought the price was also good.

That's good info. on a few powder coaters. A friend used the Clinton, MA guy and liked him. Will have to look up the Central MA company. I did find one in Wakefield, NH. Color Coatings. He has done the Straw color on other A wheels in the past so feels he has a good, close color.
Thanks everyone.
