Default Sealing filler neck at gas tank

Please tell me the best product to use to seal the filler neck at the gas tank on my 37 pickup. Just started leaking.
Thank you

A liberal coating of non-hardening Permatex always did the trick for me.

I believe you have the threaded collar connecting the tank to the filler neck? If so there is a large lead washer which goes on the threaded collar and on tightening the collar it seals with the lead crushing / sealing. Lead Washer only good for one application, If tank is removed after a new lead washer is required.

If it does have a crush washer, a coat of Permatex won't hurt.
