looks like it won't be a hot rod
By the look in my girls eye and her playing with the horn today, it looks like the car will be stock forever.
AAAAH, I didn't really want a hot rod anyway. |

Re: looks like it won't be a hot rod
She's a lucky girl. Wish I could have grown up with my dad owning a Model A, or any antique car. My dad didn't go for old cars, so I didn't get my first antique car until I got out of high school. BTW, it was a 1931 Chevy Coupe. Wish I still had it, but I sold it for $180 to a guy that hot rodded it.

Re: looks like it won't be a hot rod
I grew up in the 1940's and the newer cars that my parents had at the time are now regarded as antiques. Back in the 1940's, the second car of most families usually was the ever faithful model A Ford. In my youth, my Whidbey Island neighbors wouldn't sell me their low mileage 1928 model A tudor because they thought that I would make a hot rod out of it. I haven't made a hot rod out of any car yet, and I have owned a lot of model A Fords since then.

You got a smart girl there. Sometimes I think our children are here to teach us, not the other way around.

Re: looks like it won't be a hot rod
When I bought my first Model A in 1961 at the tender age of 16, the owner made me promise I'd never hot rod it. I didn't get it restored until 1980, but I still have it, and it is stock!

Re: looks like it won't be a hot rod
[QUOTE=Tom Wesenberg;826076]She's a lucky girl. Wish I could have grown up with my dad owning a Model A, or any antique car.
When I was five, we had a '37 Chevy sedan parked next to the barn. We also had a flock of mallards which I liked to chase. They would try to hide under the Chevy and I'd crawl under it after them, and come out covered in duck exhaust. I'd get beaten and bathed, then I'd go chase the ducks again. I went along on the car's last ride. My father was going to pull the engine for his work boat and wanted to be sure it was running okay. The local scrap dealer came to get the body.....paid $10 for it, then charged $10 to haul it away. A neighbor made the same deal to get rid of a T touring car. |

Glad to see that you're keeping it stock at least for a while. That car looked too nice to carve up IMHO.
