Had my timing cover chrome plated and polished my distributor. I can't wait to get my engine finished and back on the road. I'm sick of driving a vehicle with square headlights!

Ken the plating was done by Leonard's Plating in Nashville, Tennessee phone 615-254-8308 we no longer use them for customer cars as we were having issues with pitting on larger items such as bumpers etc. (They did re do the items) That being said, they have very reasonable prices and quick turn around, so I do use them myself for small brackets and such and my timing cover. Once installed you won't see much of it anyway, at 75.00 bucks it was about half of what our other chrome shops get.

I was at a car show a few yr's ago and there was a real pretty 34 roadster all restored original. He had the original aluminum heads polished, look like chrome. pretty sharp. Walt

Marvin, I would start by deburring all the casting marks,texture from the heads using a sandpaper cone with a die grinder and or dremmel tool with different size sanding drums. keep working to finer grits of paper, it's very time consuming and dirty work but worth the effort! once you get it really smooth you can start the polishing process by starting with a rough cutting polishing compound(usually black or dark grey) you can use a bench polisher and again use your die grinder/dremmel with different buffing attachments. keep working your way to the finer compounds (usually light grey and white) once your happy with the results I would recommend a good sealer to protect your polishing job.

I believe it's called shark hyde? I will check tomorrow at work and take a picture of the can and post it. I used it on one of the Coker show trailers that we polished all the aluminum on. It was almost two years ago and that thing stays on the road year around! last time I saw it, it still looked great.
