Gene, That's a hot air heater, a Ford accessory back in the day. Very effective heater, nobody makes them today. There are some guys that deal in these heaters, one on this Forum, he may chime in here for ya.

Go to www.hotair4fords.com They are very helpful in finding and might have all or most of the parts you need. I have one in my 40 Coupe, works very well. My 39 Zephyr will have one also, thats the only heater that Ford offered for the 39 Zephyrs.

Just saw a complete one for a 40 for sale here or on HAMB (I forget which). Should work on a 39?

Re: Who makes this heater and how do I get one?
There are early and late style hot air heaters for 1939.
Get a copy of the '38-'39 EFV8 restoration manual and read all about them. Regards, Chris.NZ. |

Here it is in the Green Bible.

Re: Who makes this heater and how do I get one?
I didn't realize that it connected to the exhaust, my car has Red's headers. I guess I'll have to pass. Thanks to everyone for the help.

Re: Who makes this heater and how do I get one?
All stock VW and Porsche air cooled motors have sheet metal enclosures around the exhaust pipes called heater boxes. Pretty simple to have someone fab one out of sheet metal or stainless and a flex hose.
But real men don't need no stinking heater - right? |

Re: Who makes this heater and how do I get one?
That's a good idea. I have most of the parts for the hot air heater for our '39CS but I also run Red's Headers. The good thing is; I live in Florida now so the heater is not a necessity.
