Default Front bumper arm installation

Just tried to mount a new set of front bumper arms for my 28 Coupe. After installation, I discovered that the right arm is not only about 2 1/2" bent too far out but, the front holes are too small for the front clamps. I have measured the bend of the arm with regard to my frame, the bumper and the other arm many times and come up with the same result. I measured my old clamp bolt diameters and they appear to be 9/16". The holes on the new arms appear to be 1/2". Can someone verify or deny that my old clamps or too big or the arm holes are too small on the new arms? Is there a variance between years as far as clamp bolt/arm hole sizes? SALTMAN

PS: 'Every time' .. I try to install a new part on my Model A, its like trying to stick a large square peg into a much smaller round hole... nothing ever seems to work...!

you are correct they are 9/16" and if you drill it out go one drill size over.

I'm not sure what the alloy is, but they don't like to be bent, even with heat, which probably isn't a good idea. I ended up finding some good originals, and stopped wasting my time getting them to "match".

Could it possibly you have a 30/31 arm on one side, they curve more to match the arched contour of the later bumper.

Check to see if the front frame horns are bent, twisted etc. This will cause the arms to be at a strange angle.
