Bell Auto Parts in LA made the Super Winfield in aluminum a long long time ago. I used to have one.

Here is Kong, Winfield and me in front of Winfields house in 1976. Kong is showing Ed his new front ignition on my B motor. Cook 4 port head

Here is Wes Cooper's roadster pickup with Kong shotgun.

While we were there we got a look inside Winfield's photo album. One of the guys took photos of the photos. Here is one of Winfield in his "T" powered race car

When I was a kid growing up outside of Los Angeles, I remember seeing and talking to Wes Cooper at many of the early SoCal swap meets, early Antique Nationals, etc. "Jiggler" Joe Gemsa was a regular fixture as well and also another really neat guy. There was a loosely organized club called the No Name Racecar Club that used to have meetings at Bill and Mike La Rosa's place in Whittier. It was great to be a kid amongst all these great and knowledgable people.

Wes Cooper, Winfield and Kong looking inside Bob Evans hand built speedster.

Good look at the 2 port Riley speedster

Bob was a craftsman first class

Hi Tod, are there any updates on the heads? I know everyone else will be thinking the same? (I also know you are very busy, but just curious)

I finally got my core quote. I need to get some stuff caught up and then I can get back on that.

Hi Tod,

I'm curious as to what happened with the Winfield cylinder head project. Any updates you could fill us in on?

Judging by his recent Facebook posts, he seems to be working on stock-appearance heads at the moment, not Winfield heads.

It seems that Tod made at least 2 of the Winfield Cast Iron 7.0 to 1 heads.

My friend Tim had one on the Roadster which he recently sold.

I have one on a Burtz engine in the Coupe.

Wow it really "wakes up" the Engine with its Stipe IB330 camshaft and Super B Plus auto advance distributor.

Note: This is comparing the Burtz to a Ford B block with a 5.2 Police Head.

This engine revs up quickly to 45 or 50 in second with V8 transmission (16 - 28 gear set) and a Berts Zenith A carb (just out of the Box) and a 3.78 rear-end.

With only 600 miles on the Burtz engine I do not want to push it any harder than that.

The problem I had at first was with the additional compression the engine idles too fast with spark at 22 degrees, idle was 700 to 800 rpm.

I had to retard the spark down to 0 degrees to get idle down to 470 rpm. This is the 20 degree version of the Super B plus auto advance distributor. They make a 14 degree version also.

This is why I installed the Super B Plus. Three degrees advance at Idle and 23 degrees at 2200 rpm and I do not have to retard the spark at every traffic light.

Thanks for the info everyone. I've been putting a Riley Two Port together for a roadster project and enjoy seeing what others are doing with four bangers and speed equipment.

That's a nice setup! I've been trying to find a Winfield head to go with a Winfield intake and SR BB carburetor for a project. It's a shame Tod didn't make more of these. I'd gladly buy a couple!

Keep an eye on the classifieds, I'll be selling my 7:1 Winfield replica head sometime in the next year.

From Tod's facebook page 30 October:
"Picked up 6 more 7:1 Winfield heads and dropped off the Stock Top Crow Foot tooling! I have 4 of those ordered and I have 2 cores for 5.8:1 heads ready to pick up. I ordered 12 more cores for Winfield heads so I can make a bunch of those 6 and 7:1."

He seems to be waiting on machining space.

Also:
" Stoc Top Crow Foot. 8:1 ratio. One of my best heads."
