All im trying to say is don't trust that service bulletin measurement.

Ref:17, I had looked at that SB and wondered if it was applied to the 2-tooth gearbox's. Took a quick look through the SB but didn't see anything adding a fitting to the 2-tooth, or not adding it to the 2-tooth gearbox. I don't know if cornhead will flow good enough to get to the bushings, So with cornhead a grease fitting sounds like a good idea for the bushings. I'm not interested in the needle bearing setup so that's not part of my equation.

I added the fitting to my existing 7-tooth, mainly because I had the gearbox disassembled so why not add it. And I have used it to grease the bushings. Now I have this 2-tooth tore down, I think a grease fitting is in the cards for this 2-tooth, anyway, it's a jalopy, not a points car.

Yep, I installed a grease filling along with the O-Ring kit. Solved any leakage. I use Lucas 85W-140 grar Oil.

My guess is that those having problems have not cleaned out the steering box properly. It should work fine on slow moving gears.

Thought about JD Cornhead grease in my two tooth gear box but I read that it liquifies with heat being generated. Decided not to as there's not much heat generated in steering vs. constantly rotating gears/bearings. I'm sticking with my Penrite. I do use Cornhead in my brush hog's gear box.
