It looks pick up to me too. I thought only the trucks used the horizontally mounted oil filter.

It's a 352 in a 65-66 F100. The angled oil filter, hand choke and flat top valve covers are the indicators

If the alternator and carb/intake are original...., I believe alternators started in 64 1/2 or '65. The carb appears to be a four barrel 4100 and the style accel pump cover that was used after '64. Definately an FE engine. My Guess is a '65 or '66 Galaxie with a 390, since 352's didn't use a four barrel carb after 1960.

Good catch on the manual choke. At first look I thought the choke assembly was just missing. Also thought V8 trucks had auto chokes in '66 ? Could be wrong. Sal |

Sal, I've had a '65, '66, and a '67 F100. All were original 352's with manual choke 2100's, alternators and the squared top valve covers. This photo is definitely a pickup from those 3 years. In '68 the pickups got a 360, 2100 with an auto choke and the rounded, Powered by Ford valve covers. I just don't have a picture of any of my old rigs to verify it

Good info Craig. This engine has a 4100 4 barrel. That's why I'm leaning towards a 390. Chances are the carb and intake have been chaged after all theses years. I don't know if a 390 was ever offered in a truck ? Sal |

Are you sure you are not looking at a 2100?

Take another look Sal, I can see the rear of the mounting flange, and I can't see anything that looks like the secondary throttle plate activator rod that would be on a 4100

All I can say is someone must have disabled the rear two barrels by removing the rod that comes from the diaphragm lever. Actually, after a better look I can see the tip of the sec. diaphragm lever. Not to mention one of the secondary bowl vent tubes sticking up. Sal Last edited by scicala; 01-10-2022 at 05:58 PM. |

As others have mentioned, those are truck inner fenders. I agree with craig narrowing it down to 65 or 66.

Sal, take a look at this carb. I think the castings at the rear are what you think are screws Whoops, no picture!

I thought it looked like a 2100 as well. As I remember only the 289 HiPo's were the only 4100 that have manual chokes. And its not a 289! Hard to tell what the carb is for sure.

Friends & family owned Galaxies, LTD, and Mercury Monterey cars in 65 & 66 and I spent time working on them. They don't look like the one in the photo for sure. My Pop had a 66 Ford F100 that looked a lot like what's in the photo. They had the twin I beam front ends.
