Removing 8BA oil fill tube

Washing off carb cleaner with hot water in the kitchen sink.

I'm back after 6 months. During that time, I have soaked it in various penetrants, heated the manifold while I shoved ice down the tube, and tried to twist it out, all to no avail. I finally resorted to cutting it off close to the manifold with a hacksaw, and then using a cutoff wheel on my Dremel to cut through the portion still inside the manifold. I was then able to peel it away from the manifold with a small chisel. It's out now with no damage to the manifold. Funny thing is, when I inspected the remnants of the tube and the inside of the hole in the manifold, it just looked like regular metal, no nasty corrosion or anything like I was expecting.

I have quite a few 8BA's, I was always concerned about them staying in tight after having taken them out. Not the case with yours I guess...... Mark

I know exactly what you're saying. I had to "JB Weld" the last one into my Canadian Merc aluminum manifold because it was so sloppy.

Denny, so did you try heating it and then melt some candle wax (has to be paraffin wax).
I have got some very stuck metal parts loose with the paraffin wax method.
