Can someone tell me a simple way of measuring the charge rate/output from a powerhouse generator with the engine running? I want to check the accuracy of the ammeter reading, currently 10amps. Also, what should the ammeter be reading when the headlights are being operated and the car is being driven at 35mph? Thanks.

After I rebuilt my 5 brush Powerhouse a local shop put it on his testing machine. With the moveable brush at its lowest setting it was putting out 5 amps, when we moved it to the highest setting it was putting out 28 amps.
You didn't say if you had a 3 or 5 brush Powerhouse ? I also installed a 5 brush on my early 29 Roadster; I'm running 21-3 headlight blubs, with the charge rate set at 8 Amps, when I turn on my headlights it still shows about 1 amp of charge. Ron |
