Just got a 60 hp flathead. Its a tin sided 37. Its missing the water pumps and I am trying to figure out if the threads are straight or tapered. Sounds simple, but I am not sure what to look for. There are only four threads. Is the taper prominent? Am I looking for, as an example, the difference between a straight thread on a bolt compared to a tapered pipe thread? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There are two types of water pumps for the 60hp, depending upon the front motor mounting plate. The change from the threaded type to the straight type was done in 1938 and was used thru 1940. As yours is a '37, I'd assume it is the early type. The only place I know of that has parts for the 60 is Little Dearborn. Their phone is 888/282-2066. Have your engine serial number handy, if you can find it.
