Default Horn keeps blowing 51 Ford car

Everything I go over a bump the horn blows. I have to move the horn ring to get it to stop. Took it apart and couldn't see anything wrong.

The wire that runs down the inside the column from the button to the bottom of the steering box is most likely shorting out.

Check the wire that runs down through the steering column. If it's the original wire it could be worn through and is shorting out, causing the horn to blow.

Checked out wire and it looks ok. Not worn through any place.

Can you see the horn ring moving as you go over a bump? Is it like it is on a hair trigger where it blows with the slightest movement?

It's pretty obvious that the horn ring grounding points are not keeping a proper air gap. Could be bent or loose. Only you have the ability to determine that.

I think you may have a clown in your car somewhere.

Yes it's like a hair trigger. Still everything looks ok and tight. Sounds crazy.

You may have to check over the wiring, you obviously have a short somewhere. Good luck!

Dick,

You say the ring is a hair trigger. Well, that is your problem. It is misalined or there is not enough tension on it to maintain the proper air gap. Simple solution. Good luck with it.

I've heard of the horn shorting out and shocks your arm as your cruising down the road looking cool with your arm resting on the window trim....let's hope that doesn't happen .ha...ha
