Default 33 travel pics

Well, we are back from 2 weeks away in the 33 and caravan,
Total of 1675 miles, all out west in the bush.
The 33 ran good,towed mostly at 50mph.
As usual fuel and other stops were long as many folks wanted pictures and asked questions.
I put a coolant mix in the radiator before leaving and on the first day used about 12 litres of water, next day about 2 litres and the next none, but about a week later it again used about 10 litres, then no more on the rest of the trip.I think as I could not see any leaks ,it may have gone out the exhaust via a head stud.
I haven't worked out the fuel yet ,but we were way less than one couple who had a V8 Toyota L/cruiser towing 3-1/2 tons who was using 35 litres per 100 klms.
We have a few minor things to alter on the car and C/van for our 14000klm trip in August.
Went to the Dawn service at Cunamulla,(ANZAC day),and visited a WW2 airfield at Charleville were the US airforce was stationed during WW2 with B17 and B24 bombers and fighter planes.
ALSO where they tested the Norden bomb site, and had only 5 on site as they were top secret then, the picture of the 33 by the small concrete shed is the bomb proof store where the sites were stored and guarded.

I was going to say something on the guided tour ,as those folks fought to keep the Japanese away from Australia, and we were the only ones in a non Japanese vehicle, shame on them.

Good stuff! And, great observation about Jap vehicles which so many of the "allies" are in love with.

Nice lawrie. Keep us posted when you work out that water usage problem. Have you finished the dragster motor yet? Dan.

Danny, the new pistons left the USA yesterday, should be here in a week or so.
The water problem had me beat, the engine ran like a swiss watch, pulled up hills OK,run up to 60 mph a few times ,no worries, on the trip back from Charleville to home never used a drop of water and most times never went over 72 C,
Only used about a litre of eng oil ,
I thought it may have leaked through one of the head studs that go into the exhaust port up where the two centre ports are ,the top centre stud.
I,m going to put the 99a engine in in a couple of weeks so will have a look then.

Lawrie what pistons have you ordered for the blower? Dont go scratching that nice shiny duco on the sedan swapping motors. I always hated doing that on the roadster.

Looking good Lawrie! I wish I could have tagged along on that trip in my '35 fordor . Not much beats a road trip in an Early Ford V-8!!

Robert, I don't think we can manage Dubbo, we have a pile of things on around that time, most probably we will out at Claremount in the 33.
