A Tribute to Paul Garagan, Rumble seat.

Rest in Peace and condolences to his family and those who knew him. I never knew him but always enjoyed reading his writings. His legacy is in the hearts of those who knew him and, fortunately for those of us who didn't, his knowledge, wisdom and inspiring adventures have been well documented by The Rodder's Journal having printed his epic flathead '34 roadster trip and also because he took the time to write down a lot of what he learned and discovered in Rumbleseat's Notes:

Always held rumble seats tips and info in high regard on the techno site. But have some how missed the single finger speed shop link. Lots of valuable info there too ,again gathered and supported by the flathead guru .Paul Garagan.

I feel honored that he visited me at my home on one of his cross country trips. I lured him to stop by to see my rare speed parts "collection". We also suffered from some of the same health issues, and spent time in that discussion as well.

Kinda surprised no one in Colorado has anything to say. Had coffee with Paul at least 3 times a week. He is a Peach. They say you can't take it with you, but Paul did. God Speed My Friend.

He REALLY got around in the roadster. He visited me on one of the long excursions. I rebuilt and tested the oil pump for his engine when he did a "freshen" last year. (Or was that the previous year?) I'm sure it got used. Plenty. He was a good friend to MANY people and enjoyed life. That is what it is all about. R.I.P.

just a couple of pics Paul on left, myself in center and Tom Russell. Paul's trip to Vancouver Island. He was a tad upset with the Canadian Border people. The made him unload the entire car before letting him into Canada. He carried everything he thought he may need on his trip. He had hidy holes everywhere. When he was on the Island we commented on the paint job. He proceeded to pull out his touch up kit and sanded down the only paint chip we could find and do the repair. When done you could not see a mark. That is the way he did things. The right way or not at all. Remarkable man.

Every time I run across this photo of Garrigan, I have to chuckle. It speaks volumes about his sense of humor.

Had the pleasure of spending time with Rumble Seat on his visit to Florida and at the LA Roadsters Show. Another great loss to the Ford Barn and the flathead community. First Paul Howard "AV8Paul" and now Paul Garagan "Rumble Seat." Prayers for his family.

I learned a lot about the early Ford V-8's and the Ford Flathead engine by reading Paul Garrigan's posts on the old Fordbarn (prior to 2010) and on BillB's Techno Site. Fortunately, BillB has kept a lot of Paul's information on the Techno Site for anyone who cares to go there and read. He was also posting quite often on the Chevy Barn until that site was closed down.
Rest in peace Paul...your valuable teachings will be remembered by many of us who enjoy these old cars thanks to your help.

I never had the opportunity to meet Paul either, but enjoyed his posts on the "old barn", and have saved about 100 pages of his posts and theories regarding our old Fords.
I appreciate his willingness to share his knowledge.

Very sorry to hear about Paul, but at least he got to go out doing something he loved. I had the good fortune of meeting him when he made his last trip to this part of the country. What a nice guy, he will be missed. Paul Selfe.

What sad news! Paul spent some time here at my place,see#27. We have lost a very good man! The three of us drove around our little seaside town went to Garys bistro for lunch and just talked. And talk about humility,knowledgeable and so very low key.
When he dropped his tranny into first without so much as a squeek I thought OK Paul I will not try that! I had a couple of spare trannys and he could have had one but no need for that.
That roadster had spare parts hidden in every nook and cranny there was.
Darn I am sorry to hear about his passing. I do have great memorys of him and consider myself fortunate and blessed to have met him.
