I thought some of you would enjoy this article from the Penn-Ohio club newsletter, from 73, penned by Arlene Burks. File too big to load as on attachment....

Great story! We are all caretakers of a slice of American history.

Are/were you a member of Penn-Ohio Steve? I live about 20 minutes away from Vernon, so I have been fortunate enough to tour his barns and see his wonderful collection. It truly is a site to see.

No, never a member, but I am a sucker for all things printed on the A. I collect past newsletters when I have the opportunity. I try to read each one cover to cover, but its getting tough keeping track of what all I've read and have. I picked these up a few years ago, absolutely drooled over the pics of Vernon's place as seen in the photos from 73. I can't imagine the treat to see this in person. Too bad the collection is starting to disperse, but it'll help with his care one would assume. You are one of the privileged to have seen it, I'm green with envy.....😉

Penn-Ohio member here...I've been around them most of my life though trips and meets. I found out the house was torn down a few months ago, but the barns still remain. I'm sure if they really avertised this as an auction like some of the big collections in the past couple years they could get some premium money out of them. I'm pretty sure the ebay seller is Vernon...he always wore a red cap.

Thank you Steve-enjoyed the read.
Different times produce different results and enjoyed the mention of how in the later years, they could never have bought so many A's.

I'm sure a few people had the same notion in the late 40's, when they bought a Duesenberg for a few hundred dollars.

I'm going to buy it and turn it into a rat rod. It is number matching right?

What chapter are you with? Franchise 24 and myself are in Copus Hill Chapter. One of our members was Charlie Copus, which his ancestors were part of the Copus Hill Massacre.

Its a little over 12 now, reserve not met. Anybody want to venture a guess on what the reserve is, and where it ends up at?
Or in other words, "What's it worth?" , in your opinion?
I know, I know... I'll find out what its really worth in 3 days or so.

I saw an original that appeared in worse condition go for fifty thousand, a few years ago. The one that I am thinking of had the woodwork painted barn red. One of the Ford barn members bought it.

I emailed the seller-intentions are only to list a few cars and that is it.

My guess at this point is that neither car makes reserve. Economy is very tight for this time of year.... everyone's buying insurance!

Looks like the reserve was $17,000.

Whoever the hell has a feedback score of 226 has bid 13 of the 26 times...

Notice that sometimes the bidding on the bay goes way up, as long as there is a reserve

that's called "baiting"......

sometimes it works though, apparently.
