Here's the scoop on '36 mats - as I understand it, and I could well be wrong.

The molds used to make the mats were at one supplier, over time they got worn and deteriorated. When you got a mat, there was a warning from the parts supplier i.e. LeBaron Bonney the mats were imperfect. The only other solution was to grab up one of the used ones that appeared on *bay from time to time. Even those were very brittle and tore easily.

That's the end of the story so far. Although there seems to be a large demand for a '36 mat in the right color, AFAIK none is available yet.
