Default 1949 Mercury Radio ID

I have a 1949 Mercury that needs a radio.
I have one I bought...that was supposed to be right...though once I set it up into the dash...it is obviously not the correct radio to properly fill the hole.

Anyone have a 1949 Mercury Radio with mounting brackets?
Anyone have a correct picture of what a 1949 Mercury radio is supposed to look like?

Here is what I have...that I can probably now sell....

That is the same radio that fits the opening in the 48-50 F-Series trucks and that make them like gold. That is unfortunately one of the most expensive radios you can try to find. I have one that I restored and is working beautifully but it is going in my F-3 someday. Most of the trucks didn't come with radios and a good many of the Mercury radios have been re purposed as truck radios so there aren't many left.

1962300, the radio in your photo is for a '50 Ford Car, also used in the '51 & '52 F Series Trucks. Here is a photo of the one in our '51 F-1.

I don't have a photo of the 1949 Mercury radio brackets, but the part #'s are 8M-18888-A 6 3/16 in. long and #8M-18888-B 4 15/16 in. long. It will probably be hard to find a pair, but if you get a photo of them installed you probably could make them. The 50 and 51 Merc radio support brackets are not the same as the 49, but are pictured below. Click on photo to enlarge.

Well...if anyone has an actual '49 Mercury Radio, with knobs, mountings brackets...please let me know.

If anyone needs to buy a nice radio with knobs, uncracked face, no mounting brackets for a '50 Ford Car and/or '51 to '52 F Series Ford Truck....I have one I cannot use.

Thanks all.

They do show up on ebay pretty often. Also, be sure and get the radio bezel that fits around the front of the radio. I have never seen the supports for sale. Perhaps someone could post a photo of what they look like.
