Default Thermal Belt Model A Club Hill Climb

Today I drove the 20 miles over to Spindale, NC and spent some time at the 2013 edition of the Thermal Belt Model A Club's Hill Climb event. Lots of fun to see the A's, especially the various modifieds. Took a few pictures...

We have a similar event here in Indiana. A small town called Newport. First of October each year. Lots of stock A's and T's.

A bit of trivia that might be worth mentioning...

The NY Yankee speedster you see above/below is a tribute car that was built to honor baseball's great 3rd baseman, New York Yankee Bill 'Bull' Johnson, who was not only an All-Star player, ...but was also a 4-time World Series Champion!! 'Bull' had a career batting average of 271, hit over 60 home-runs, and had 487 RBIs!!

That is pretty cool in itself HOWEVER, the driver/builder of that car is fellow fordbarner Abbie Prince from S Augusta, ...the man that married Bill Johnson's daughter!! Yep, that car was built and is driven as a memorial to Abbie's father-in-law, baseball's great Mr. Bill Johnson!

(And as Paul Harvey would have said, "Now you know the rest of the story!!" )

Brent, thanks for the background. I wondered what the connection between baseball and that car was. Interesting story.
