My 1998 Ford Ranger 4X4 pickup with almost 270,000 miles gets 100,000 miles on a set of tires. The factory Firestones A/Ts lasted the longest at 103,000 miles. The next set was Firestone A/Ts and went 100K miles. The BFG A/T's on it now still look almost new with 60K on them.

The Model A has a set of Firestones with a little over 8K miles on them (as best we can guess) and cannot see any evidence of treadwear yet.

22,000 miles on 19" firestones on 31 roadster, rotated every 4000mi or so. some tread left, not quite legal. mostly around town driving.

So far I read three answers regarding actual milage on model A tires. The answers were in miles, the original Q. was how many kilometres. Multiply miles X 1.609 to get Km.

I had to change my tires on my Ford F150 4x4 Pick up at 60,000 miles (and I did a lot of off road too); I am at 105,000 and I need a new pair. When the tax money comes I will go get me some new ones.

Is it the compounds used, the narrower width, are we being hoodwinked.....?

Where is the model A tire that gets 40-60000 miles?

So, if I was to use radial 21 inch tires on my 1931 Tudor, would the ride be better than the original bias tires ?

The quality of rubber is not the greatest, and most modern drivers in Model-As "over-drive" the tire in corners anyway. If someone gets 12k-15k miles, to maybe 20k out of a set of tires, (even back in the day) that was considered a lot of driving. Times have changed with advances in automobiles. Be content with 12k-15k miles of service life.

I have 70k miles on the tires on my truck, and I bet I have over 1/3 of the tire tread left.

To me, most of the tires dry rot before they loose the tread. I have had the same BF good Rich tires on my '66 mustang for 20 years, the tread is still there but they are starting to dry rot so I'll need new ones soon and the only have 40,000 miles on them. I think your paying for longevity not miles.

a little off topic, but think other will enjoy.....where does all the rubber go that is worn off millions of tires on the road?? a lot of rubber there dont you agree??? well the good old us government did a survey,study,scientific analasys,if you will...............turns out they say bacteria eats all the rubber from the pavement...not like the laying down of rubber at dragstrip...thats fresh. good for traction................just a thought....kev
