Default My Sons First Car

I can't tell you how HAPPY I am when my son John bought his first car this past Friday. We brought it home from PA and put it in the garage. Has a truck 49 through 53 Flathead that fired with a little shot of gas in the carb.
John is 22 years old and goes by the name johnreb23 on this site. He will need a lot of help from you guys as he starts getting this old shoebox road ready. Some of his first steps is getting it in full primer. He wants to run duel exhaust so he'll be looking for some headers. Please welcome John Reb to the Ford Barn. One proud Dad

I love this kind of deal.

John, cherish your first car, but even more important, cherish your dad.

Have fun with both.

Congratulations Johnreb23 and dad, that's a really exciting feeling. Wonderful time for you and your son ahead... My father one time was helping on a mobile home I was restoring 1952 spartan, and we were cutting some wood, my father of course wanted to make the cut and twice he cut it wrong, and he knowing the perfectionist I am, was just beside himself and so apologetic, I turned and said to him, you can measure and cut as many times as we need to, I'll just buy more wood, because nothing can replace this beautiful sunny day, the roast beef sandwiches on crunch bread and the time we are spending together with each other I wouldn't trade that moment for the world..

Enjoy,
Pete

Thanks everyone,

just got back from the barn, taking parts off the car and getting ready to primer it. I already have more questions than i can remember so I'm trying to take it one day at a time and I'll be sure to ask for help on here when i need it.

hopefully i'll be able to get the engine starting smoothly tomorrow and clean up some of the wiring.

i'll try to keep you updated on any serious progress.

thanks dad!

JohnReb, It doesn't get any better than owning your first old Ford and having your Dad to help you with your project. Keep us posted on the progress and ask away with any questions. If I can find it, I will post a picture of my first car when I was 16 and my Dad at that time who bought the car for me for $75 and then helped me out with a lot of the work. If he was still alive today, he would be 103. JM

Dad, you are a lucky man that your son is into old cars - mine are not one bit interested. I'm jealous, Dad! Please post your progress young man - I will enjoy seeing this project come together!
