So all I am saying is someone should take the initiative to talk to him and set him straight and tell him the facts, tell him he make false statements etc. I do it ALL the time in the 18 years i have been with ebay We have to keep our Hobby fair and accurate and educate and correct others that are not knowledgeable about it and make those corrective steps to assure they are.. IF He fails to act or ignores, then we must educate all that bid to protect them..My point is ACT dont TALK...maybe we can make some changes for the better

he is a car dealer and well aware that this is not a 3 year old frame off restoration. you do not have to know anything about model A's to know this. with an undercarriage that looks like it hasn't been touched in 80 years except for freshly painted axles its the old saying buyer beware.

When I was looking (on eBay) for my truck, I did contact the seller (who really didn't know much about Model As) and pointed out some glaring untruths, he actually pulled the ad, re wrote it, and re-posted it with the corrections I had pointed out. I still bought it from him anyway.

Carl, your seller was the exception rather than the rule.
over the years I have tried to help out occasional eBay sellers correct their inaccurate descriptions.
the predominant reaction is usually idignation.
if one of my auction descriptions has an error, I am grateful to have it pointed out.
many sellers are not.
guess that's why I do not share Mark M's optimism in this case.........

I wouldn't pay $25K for the car, but I would sure like to own it. The cosmetic items can be fixed.

I sent him a message summarizing some of the points in the post here and adding one or two of my own. I just can't let someone who may be interested in the Model A hobby paying to much for his/her first Model A.

I'm with Chris on this one. I buy and sell antique tools on Ebay, and frequently offer corrections to sellers with incorrect descriptions. Very few respond positively.
I think it's important to try to keep Ebay sellers as accurate as possible because I figure disappointed buyers will not want to buy on Ebay again for fear of getting ripped off again.

I always marvel at "complete frame off professional restorations" that have a rusty frame, rusty underside of the body, and most glaringly, the rusty shift lever and brake handle.

My wife has boots like that. I call them her storm trooper boots.... She does not think that is as funny as I do.

on some level, I KNEW I shouldn't bother, but sometimes I just can't resist.
without being unpleasant, I emailed this bubba and shared with him a few of the more glaring deficiencies in the car vs. his description; and also suggested a bit of research regarding what s/w Town Sedans actually sell for.

the result was as expected: he replied that he's right, I'm wrong, and please leave him alone if I do not wish to buy the car.

Yup, since he's not an antique car dealer, just used car dealer who happens to have a couple antiques, I can forgive his not being knowledgeable about the finer points of Model A authenticity. And I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about his honesty. But after reading his replies to negative feedback, I figured he'd give the response you got.
