Going to Newport R.I. to change the air in my tires. They got the freshest air there.

I drove our '53 F-100 Panel Delivery to pick up a bunch of travertine tile for one of the bathrooms in the house we are building. On the way home the right front radial tire self-destructed... I had no spare tire (just an extra rim) so I called my wife. She picked me up, drove me home to get a good jack and took me to the local Firestone Dealer where they mounted another tire. After that she drove me back to the ’53 where I changed the tire and drove home… Now I’m too tired to unload the truck. Nothing like Flathead adventures to put some fun and excitement in your life.

Not really Henry's fault that your tire blew out--if it was a Firestone tire you can blame Henry's old crony Harvey Firestone.

For all of the things that Hank did for his country, he sure does not get much accolade, he built a lot of tanks and planes to keep us free, he employed tens of thousands of workers, and left a hell of a legacy. Poor guy don't even get a stamp or a mention. And his company today is the only US car manufacturer that didn't take a welfare check from uncle sam and then go bankrupt to leave its share holders belly up. Another reason I only buy Fords, I already paid for all the Chevy's.

Hi Ray, Yup, I've been putting a lot of miles on the '53 after we installed the Flathead. I've also, with the help of several friends, gotten our '47 Rag Top out of storage and running again after a three year nap.
