I've tried two different remotes for the same garage door and the same issue.
I can be 10 feet away from the door and it won't work on the visor or in my hand ,even sporadic when I hold it out of the window. But as soon as I shut the engine down it works fine.
Had the exact same problem. Mine was from using solid core plug wires. I probably could have lived with it but my all electric gauges didn't work either. I switched to suppression wires and it solved both problems.
