Will,
I also agree with Brent's perspective on this. This is not the place to piss & whine about second hand parts & de-grade the maker of the parts! If you're gonna' play, you gotta' PAY! When disappointed with a used part purchase, JUST GET OVER IT, chalk it up to experience, have a glass of Muscat wine, pet the dog, and go to bed! Bill W.

This is a crock. The part was never purchased by lazlobassett as new but was used when he got it. Bill, Brent and Will have it right. When you buy a part from anyone other than the manufacturer or his representative you get what you get. Generally speaking, warranties are not included with the purchase of a used part unless specifically stated by the original manufacturer or seller. lazlobassett got ripped off by the guy he bought the car from, not Dan. I know Dan personally and can attest to the impressions others had at first meeting, he is a jerk. Once you have time to get to know him, he is a good guy and will help in any way he can as long as it is right whether it is in his best interest or not.

Buck up and admit it, you got took by the seller of the car. Go get your restitution from him!

The fact is the old one was no more in question Roy, the new casting was to be sent, he Reneged, plain and simple, in this case his word is no good, and that is wrong, no matter where you got your nose stuck. If any body says their word doesn't mean anything, as far as I am concerned they are not worth spit.

And thats My honest Opinion, and the way I was Raised!!!

Ponder this: As Paul Harvey might say, "But we don't know the REST of the story???????????"
I'm an easy going friendly guy and a good communicator, but I don't become good friends with every Tom, Dick, & Harry I meet, but I WILL give them the time of the day from my solar powered watch! Bill W.

Huh? I'd guess you missed the reneged promise part. I have to assume that was a fair representation of events. I would have no problem if a disclaimer was appropriately offered from the start but this does not appear to be the case.

Even "good guys" screw up but still need to be held accountable when they do.

Marco,
In the first post it leads me to believe that he MAY have possibly reneged on a head gasket purchase??? Business men are not in business for their health.
The disclaimer MIGHT have been: If you buy the $155.00 head gasket, I'll give you another side cover??? Bill W.

I think it's so funny how such a nice bunch of such helpful guys (Ford Barners) can be whipped up in such a frenzy over someones post. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. As much as I love The Barn I'm getting to the point where I'm ready bow out. Some of you guys can sure get fired up and it's getting old.

At my first gas station job we had a mechanic that would, at times, flabbergast me with his treatment of some people that would bring in their cars. Basically he would insult them. I asked why and he told me, "some people just aren't worth working for when there are so many that are."

I dealt with Dan Price and found him to be courteous, he followed through with my order promptly and, he even sent me a check to refund part of the shipping. I have no complaints and will happily deal with him again should the need arise.

There's two sides to every issue, and we have not heard Dan's side of the story.
Another example where people jump on the band wagon and blame those horrible, profit making vintage auto parts suppliers! (Which, if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be able to drive these great old cars around today!) How do any of us know exactly what happened between the two involved parties?????????
He said, she said, he said, she said, etc. etc. etc.......

well, the guy got screwed, and by reading the post by an expert, the ones saying his action is alright are those in the business, so what else do you think they would say? the easiest and best thing to do would be send him another part and say sorry, ive dealt with mac van pelt, and when something wasnt right he just sent another part, and payed for the postage back, no b/s, no excuses

When this Loud Mouth posted the same thing on the HAMB I forward it to Dan, a friend of mine for 35+ years. Everyone would LOVE to read his side of the story. Bob

This guy got the cover SECOND HAND!
There is no warranty offered on that.
If Dan offered a rough cover casting ALONG WITH the purchase of a head gasket to keep the guy happy, I can well understand because he is that way. So the guy decides to not buy the gasket so he can get a free cover, BULLSHIT! Take a hike cheapskate!
I have bought LOT'S of parts from Dan and he tells you up front, the castings on certain ones are porus. This info is offered to the ORIGINAL buyer.
Fix the casting, move on and keep your bad mouthing to private email.

What Pete just stated is what happened, wonder if Mr Loud Mouth has bitched to The Ford Motor Company about 81 year old parts having flaws?

James,
After all, it is a BLOG site, where we can hopefully feel free to express our views & thoughts. NO, we'll never all agree to everyone's posts, God! how boring that would be!
Really sorry you're thinking of bowing out. Bill W.

Store sale strategy:
Buy one, get one free.
I'll take it!
On second thought, I'd like to return the first one for a refund please.

Bill, you are making it up as you go along!! Ya, what if Matt didn't even talk to Price, maybe it was his next door neighbor who might have a Beef with him.
