do not use any oil that has the red shield or any round shield on the front of the container that says "for gasoline engines only", that oil has very little zinc in it because it is formulated for modern engines with roller tappets, you have flat tappets which needs the zink to protect the cam and lifters from excessive wear, use rottela or any racing oil sold at parts stores, and odont believe the bull shit about changing oil every 1000 miles, if you have a filter and quality oil you can go to 4000 or 5000 miles between changes, oil doesnt wear out it just gets dirty and loses some of the additives in it, new car makers say change the oil every 5000 miles and most warentee the engines for 100,000 miles, and to add another thing, if your not a purist buy a spin on oil filter adapter, much easer and cleaner to change

If you're concerned about the lack of zinc in the new oils just add some. I've been using a known brand of 20 -50 wt and either Lucas oil additve or STP in the blue bottle. I run this in both the 59A flathead and 215" OHV Ford six.

A guy who does engins told me DO NOT use HD oil because it keeps the engine filings alway tearing at your engine....use an SAE oil and maybe 30 is good for most driving....
