Probably bounced off the truck, or got removed by accident or to get another packge and not put back.

Relative to buying experiences, though, I recently committed to buy a jack here, and the buyer said he'd accept a check (!) and would ship the jack as soon as I told him the check was in the mail! Now that's trust! As it happens, I am out of town till 12/26, so I asked him told off shipping until I return, which will give him time to have my check clear. I'm sure we'll do business again if the opportunity arises.

I recently bought an ahooga horn. The seller insisted that I wait until I got it before sending the payment. This is real old fashioned trust and I was quite surprised! What a nice seller. Thanks for being so nice Dean. I have to admit I'm not quite as trusting.

I'm sure you were paid promptly for the loss. If you had shipped by USPS you would still be waiting for payment for many months.

and second getting taken is not right had it happen in a little different way my opinion on not being happy with the out come, had a unique intake gentleman wanted for collection also have 5 carbs 2 #'s matched Afb's NOS and three older 2gc and 4gc carbs , my return was to be a 2x2 intake and carbs for flathead, ready to go ,that didnt work the way it was supposed to setup came after having to pay 300+ not what was talked about , they leaked like crazy wouldnt run right ,linkage messed up so stuck idling high, and guy never told me that you should have a mechanical distributor to make it run right , and there was no way that i was going to get back the cash and my parts, got so frustrated packed it up and sold the car

Hello,

I just saw your posting. Very interesting! I saw a guy list 1935 wire rims (on the HAMB and Fordbarn) for the price you paid (He quoted me $200.00) and contacted him back in October. We went back an forth. I told him I was coming to Ohio to see my folks in November. He said I could pay him when I saw him. We agreed to meet at Snyders Model A Store (by the way great people, store and prices). I waited with my Dad for more than an hour. We drove more than 80+ miles round trip to meet him. Never returned my calls or showed up. I was mad, but had cool stuff to look at while I waited and spent some time with my Dad. That was on a Saturday. Didnt not hear from him Sunday through Thursday. Finally heard from him a week later by email. He said one of his family members was in a accident (might be true). By then I was back in Georgia and told him I was not interested.

My father used to be a gasser in the 1960s and he said somethings never change. He told me all kinds of stories where people never showed up, called or said something was better than it was but after driving half way across the state turned out to be a pile of junk!!!

Dad and I had lunch and he told me stories when he was a kid in the 50s/60s racing. We hit some junk shops. That was time well spent. Made lemonade from lemons.

I am interested to see who this is. I hope you get your rims or money.

Marty

I agree with those who say call the local DA and/or police. Worked for me once. It might not work all the time but if enough complaints pile up against a guy the authorities will get the picture of a thief. So even if your complaint does not work for you, it may help the next guy. And do post his name if you do not get satisfaction. These theives should be made to know there will be some consequence.

Hello,

Yeah, I thought too much of this story matched up. He wanted $250.00 for them. This has to be the same guy.

Sorry some of the rims weren't any good.

Take Care,
Marty

Hello again,

I bought a Syders 5.5 to 1 head from a guy on ebay. Got a good price. I made sure to tell him to please pack it well. He said he would. Next thing I get in the mail was a head sticking out of the box with no packing inside. I was $%^&&*&%. Last time I buy anything like that on ebay. Too many people on ebay want to make a fast buck. That wasn't the first time I had poor packing with ebay items. Not worth it. Pay the money and get the item from a good established company!

Maybe you could reflect that on his feedback, that is if you leave any. An item like that should be well packaged. But like you said, people want to make a fast buck. Good luck with it and happy new year Marty. Mark.

Here is one story I was (am still) pissed off enough about to make a web page about.

Fender Shipping on Ford Garage.

I should have done my due diligence first on the HAMB.
Vince. I have seen that ebay name a number of times. But now i will remember it even more. That would be enough to send anybody over the edge. Thanks for posting. Mark.

I have sworn off buying anything that is breakable off ebay. What sent me over the edge is when I ordered a collectible 78 record from some jerk and it was sent to me in a large manilla envelope, no packing or protection what so ever, and naturally in pieces. Besides, ebay is taking the fun out of the hunt. Flea Markets are better.
