Where to buy a radiator?
Where can I get a radiator for my 34 truck that is made like the original with the filler in the top so I can use my original radiator cap?All the ones I find are street rod radiators with no top filler and made for a Chevy engine.

Re: Where to buy a radiator?
There is a place in Arizona called Cool Kraft that makes radiators for most old fords. I got one for my 49 a four core for less than my local radiator shop wanted for a re-core.

Re: Where to buy a radiator?
I second brassworks. Expensive, but fit like a glove and solved my overheating problems in city traffic. I run one in the Cabriolet and just bought one for the Woodie

Re: Where to buy a radiator?
If you own a Cabriolet and a Woodie, and still think the Brassworks is expensive, it must REALLY be EXPENSIVE!

Re: Where to buy a radiator?
If you have the old radiator you can take it to a radiator shop that has been around for a good many year and they can re-core the original radiator for you. HRP

Re: Where to buy a radiator?
Thanks, but I don't need it re-cored really. All of the side and bottom mounting metal is rotted away and thats why I need to replace it.I could re-core it if I could find a way to mount it.If I can't find a new one I may just try to find an original or try to make some hardware for this one.I just thought finding a new original style radiator would be a piece of cake but looks like not for a 34 unless you want a street rodded radiator.

Re: Where to buy a radiator?
Back in the sixties, my pickup ending up being stopped by an electrical pole. I could not find a 1934 radiator but a local shop found a 1935 Rad. Dont know if it was a car or truck, but it fit quite well, and I am still using it. Probably not a concours, but it works for me. Byron.

Re: Where to buy a radiator?
A couple thoughts...
First, it is fairly easy to mount the radiator cap to the grille and use it as a dummy with a street rod style radiator. If you are not running a flathead (or 4) there should be little advantage in considering an original radiator cap. Second, when looking for a replacement the passenger and light pickup used the same radiator, I dont know about the 1-1/2 ton... (someone with knowledge step right on in). Third it sounds like what you really need is a parts radiator... good support with junk tanks and core. Then the trip to the friendly radiator repair shop. Good Luck |

Re: Where to buy a radiator?
When I was looking for my cars, Brassworks was a little higher, but also did things that competitors didn't. For instance, they put in the indentation for the fan in the bottom of the top tank on a '36. I didn't mean to imply that they were out of line expensive, and I believe that you get what you pay for. I was comparing to prices for Walkers that I had seen at shows and on ebay when I made that comment.
