When we have club events, we tend to park our cars together, and they tend to attract onlookers. However, it would be nice to have a sign, a window sticker, a flyer, or possibly something else that would help potential club members reach out to our club.
For folks that are club members, what kind of event signage do you use to announce the name of your club and contact information for anyone who might have interest in joining? What are your thoughts? What works for your club? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What I meant is “does it tend to blow over even with the feet on it?” I’ve seen other signs with similar features, and they were essentially untethered kites that could dent the cars.
I like the design, but I’m still skeptical of the wind. |

Haven't had any issues with the wind here in the Great Northwest!

One of the clubs I belong to has a few newsletters left over each month. At a show, we put a box of them where everybody can see them and in each, we put a membership form. We also make a point of taking to people about our cars and the club. Some people are reluctant to accept a newsletter and are very thankful when we insist.
IMO, all good PR for the club and the movement.

I’m still looking for more ideas. I really think we are missing opportunities to recruit new folks to the hobby.

I set up a event for the club I used to belong to to a Vocational School to let the students look at the cars and sit in them. We also stood by our respective cars to answer questions about the different body styles.
I also made arrangements for a copy of both National Magazine to go to the school library. I don't know if that is still available from the Nationals because that was like 4+ years ago. I thought the students showed a good interest BUT don't think that we ever had any attend a meeting. Hindsight says invitations should of went out to all of them to at least attend one meeting. Just some idea's and a little experience. |

I consider our club to be quite lucky because we have had a few younger people join recently. We older ones are giving them every hand we can, even to the point of buying a club car. The one we ended up with was semi restored by a long time member and his wife donated it to the club after he passed away. The work finishing it off was an opportunity for these younger guys to learn but they also work and have families so they couldn't make the most of that opportunity. The car will be available to the "young guns" to borrow and use on events.
These younger guys held a rally a while ago called the B40 rally. The cars had to be at least 40 years old and the entrants no more than 40. WE let them do all of the organising, ready to make a suggestion if they were heading for a disaster. They didn't. The turnout was amazing. Many had never driven dad's (or grandad's) car before and although the parking lot at the start must have been littered with gear teeth by the time they got going, they all got the hang of it with a little coaching from those who had driven a non synchro gearbox before. The general feeling after was "I didn't know this could be such fun" to "When are we going to do this again". What a success! COVID unfortunately has delayed he next one but it will happen. I have noticed that the things these young blokes want to do are the same things the older members used to do when they were that age. Seems nothing changes. PS. Two of these new, younger members are women who do all of the maintenance etc on the car themselves. There is no shortage of support available to them.

For our local club, we started using vinyl banners at our events, usually propped up on an easel or fence so they’re easy to spot. It’s helped a lot with people knowing who we are and where to find us. We include our club name, a little about what we do, and our contact info, nothing too cluttered, just clear and visible. Flyers work fine, but I find the banners get noticed more, especially outdoors or in crowded parking lots. Window stickers are cool for regulars, but not as clear for passersby.

Every fall our club takes the cars to a local middle school. At that time they are studying how the assembly line affected America's lives. Each class comes out and looks at the cars and asks lots of questions. Very hands on for them.

an inviting atmosphere may work just as good as a sign
our club does senior tours and car shows. the thing that drives me crazy is the club members put their chairs right in front of the cars, sit in groups together and block them so people don't go near them, just like they are in a gang and guarding them. uninviting. i asked one time why they they do that and got shot down. i find a spot to sit or hang out that leaves room for folks to walk around and look, then i'll stand up walk over and talk to people.
