Old Redneck, if you will private message your telephone number to me, I will respond with images of my work. I am having trouble posting images on this site.

Awhile back you posted not showing your 3 window anymore but just driving it. I guess you naturally want one that looks and fits original so I would suggest Brassworks. I bought one for my Model B coupe and it fit perfectly especially with hood alignment grill / firewall spacing, very high quality. I ordered what they list as "original" so I doubt if it would check all the boxes that Dearborn judging would accept like core or row count. It took quite a few months to get it shipped but it was completely encased in protective styrofoam. Well worth the money. Too bad we do not have David Rehor to ask about their originality or points deduction if that is the case I have heard he built a Brookville roadster so he had some flexibility I suppose or just wanted to see how it all fit.

have a new core installed. They are produced by dimension, not make. It may be hard to find a shop that installs cores.

Now I am 86 and slowing down a good bit. My 32 has been a Yrailer Queen for 8 years. Well only trailer to Auburn and to St. Charlies N.Y. Other wise sat in my garage only 2 or 3 short road test. think it time for a little enjoyment with this 32. Don't local car shows anymore. My wife does most all the driving these days.I am sorry there no National Meet this year. My 32 is probably the last 32 Dave Rehor judged.I miss him very much. He was a great help.

A good radiator shop should be able to add a new core to your existing tanks. But if your tanks are toast talk to Lee at Brassworks. Won't be cheap but nothing is anymore.

While I agree that a good radiator shop should be able to make any repair. A good radiator shop is something that I have never been able to find and I live in the St. Louis area. You would think there would be a shop in a major mid-west city. Nope.

Seth, we have at least two very good shops I have used in the western Chicago burbs. Not cheap, but they know what they are doing.

Ken,

That is good information. I will keep you in mind next time.

Last summer I took a radiator out of a 1974 John Deere 4230 tractor to get cleaned at a shop in St. Louis. When I got it back and installed it in the tractor it had 3 or 4 leaks. I called the shop and told them. I asked them if they pressure tested it after the cleaning. Their response was "I guess not". They offered to order a brand new radiator for me at my expense. Gee thanks....

I thought in your first post you were asking about a new one that would pass as original.

If you trusted the radiator shop, then was the issue that you didn't like their opinion that it could not be rodded out and repaired?

It is surely possible that the original core is shot - but maybe it is salvageable? If you think the original core is in good enough shape, you just need to find a radiator shop that will rod it out and repair any leaks. Has it had damage from a fan or other damage to the front of it?

Maybe contact those two radiator shops mentioned by Ken up above?

Rods radiator in Redding California is your shop, They can clean , re core or build you a new exact one. I have had them build several radiators off a sample and are spot on.

At Judging the Judges like a original Radiator. I am not a judge for 32 Fords so I half to ask to see what they want. My Radiator does not leak. When I drive it it pumps water out the overflow a good bit. I think it plug and needs rodded out. I don't know if they would except a non original radiator or not. I am not in any hurry about this. A good original Radiator is hard to come by I think. I don't want to destroy it.I. know this don't make sense to a lot of guys, butI try to keep my 32 original.

You may have your radiator overfilled. On a non pressurized system, the water will seek a level that eventually won't push water out of the overflow. The question is, does the car run hot while driving?

Start driving it and see what happens. Monitor the engine temp. You can use an infrared thermometer to check the temperature at the water pumps, head, top and bottom of the radiator. This will give you a more accurate idea of how the cooling system is functioning. Let us know what you find. As you know, a cooling system that is working at 100% efficiency is what these engines want.
