Finally got around to installing the Edmunds intake on my C69A. Lots is small “issues”
1. Since the Edmunds intake flange face where the fuel pump/breather stand mount is higher than the Ford aluminum intake, I require the longer fuel push rod. I have the longer rod, and it’s 1” longer. 2. The Edmunds intake has 4 less mounting holes to attach it to the block. As such, I no longer mounting bolts to support the plug wire loom tube in the driver’s side. 3. For the generator to clear the first carb, I had to drop it very low. There is now less than 1/2” clearance between the bottom of the generator body, and top of the intake. This now makes my current Gates Hi-Power II V-belt (B55) too long. I got a B50 and it’s too short. Haha! 4. The port for the distributor vacuum line on the Edmunds is big in the same place, so I had to fab up a new vacuum line. The port on the Edmunds intake is located between the two carb bases. |

Hey Ziggster, that's gonna be a really cool car when finished. Do you check out the HAMB traditional hot rods? There's a fellow from Georgia, who is building a speedster with a custom body made of fabric like an old plane. Very cool, Check it out. His thread is called Shadetree speedster or something like that. Model A powered. Keep at it, you'll get there!

Thanks! I couldn’t have done any of it without the help and support of folks here and on the HAMB.
Yes, I’m following his build. I love his creativity and ingenuity. |

I have an Edmonds manifold, with future use in mind, so I thank you for explaining the issues that you have found with your manifold. Geoff Kiwi |

Thanks guys!
Had a bit of an issue with finding the correct size belt due to the lower mounting position of the generator on the Edmunds intake. Ended up going from a B55 to a B50 (Gates Hi-Power II). Had to locate the generator such the the rear hub for the bearing was below the protrusion on the carb for the screw. The bottom of the generator is just above the top surface of the intake. Fabbed up a new vacuum line for the distributor. Last edited by Ziggster; 05-05-2026 at 05:13 AM. |

If you have problems you could always put some risers under the carbs. Depending on clearance above, which might not be an issue in this case.

That’s a good idea. Never thought of it, but I’ve never seen risers/spacers on these carbs. I have some room above the tops of the carbs. Issue would be replacing the studs for longer ones. Hoping that the configuration as it sits will work. Will know shortly. I will try both progressive and direct linkage arrangements.
