Default 36 Banjo wheel and horn rod

Trying to help a friend here. He has what I believe is a 36 Banjo Steering wheel but he’s having trouble finding the correct horn rod. The one he bought thinking it was correct for his wheel is too large and overhangs the steering wheel hub. Can anyone shed some light on this issue. Thanks

That's a 37 banjo
A 37-39 horn rod assembly will fit correctly
