Default Horn repair

II have this "Hi" side horn off of my 1959 Mercury Monterey that will not sound. Through troubleshooting i see the 'coiled wire' (not sure what this element is called) is broken. I was hoping somebody would know the specs on this component so I can rewrie bypass the broken wire with a suitable subsiding.

Here's the horn assembly 12V negative ground.:

Here it is with the back cover off:

And here's the part I need help with.

Here's a closeup of the broken wire. It's the little coiled wire circled. It sort of looks like a toaster filament.

The wire runs between the two posts.

The one in the horn is broken and I want to replace it. Does anyone know the specs of the wire ( I assume it is a resistance wire...kind of like a ballast resistor. I think the broken wire is supposed to provide intermittent resistance and causes the contact points to open and close which makes the diaphragm move and creates the horn sound. BUT, I'm not a horn expert so not sure.

OK, I am no horn expert and I am going to follow this thread. But, is there a way to determine how much resistance there is in like say a piece of the wire? And then extrapolate out the rest of the wire? Just a guess on my part.

Looking at second to last pic, it reminds me of a resistor from a tube radio. If you can find the resistance value from the wire you may be able to get a new one from a tube radio supply store.
