Went to start my A and no start. No spark. Found aftermarket ignition switch grounding out ignition behind dash. Fabbed a 1/8" aluminum spacer to put behind dash, starts at screw left of gas gage, around gage to screw on right hand side of gage. Re-installed dash, she starts right up, back on the road. Also worked on seat springs, and yesterday installed a windshield wiper motor.

Understand, in the same issue here but our local river is running for the first time in many years. I'll take it for now although it is cooler in the shop.

Can you post a picture please? I am having a hard time picturing in my mind a spacer behind the dash. Thanks.

Drove my sedan 15 miles into town and shot the breeze for a couple of hours with a couple of other Model A owners at a shop owned by one of them.

Temp got up into the high 50's here in central Missouri today; quite unusual for this time of year. It felt good as the car hadn't been started in over a month. Temp is supposed to be even warmer tomorrow, and Sherry wants us to take the A into town to run some errands.

I wish I could get her to drive it but she won't drive a manual transmission.

Restoring another Powerhouse generator. Just finished installing new field coils and new sealed bearings on the axle. After 98 years the old bearings felt like they had gravel in them. These are wonderful generators. But every 50 years or so they need a proper rebuild. This one was overdue!

I just finished restoring this early 1930 Model A generator. This one received a NEW armature. As well as the other usual work - rebuilt field coils, new sealed bearing, bushing, wiring, insulators, hardware, paint and oiler. Its too bad that new armatures are no longer being made. They work beautifully and are capable of putting out a lot of current. It is the ultimate upgrade for reliability and longevity. The generator was topped off with a serviced & refurbished original Ford cutout. It is ready for many years of dependable service.

Worked on the brakes for my 1931 Pickup.
Connecting 39 transmission to the Burt’s engine for installation in the 1930 Tudor. Hoping to get it installed in the chassis soon.

Checked to oil level in my rear end this morning. Took me 15 min. to get under the car and the rest of the morning trying to get up again. Now I'm resting in my favorite chair in the garage with my feet up watching Gunsmoke.

I finished restoring another 5-brush Powerhouse generator. These are quite complex and a real challenge to restore. But they are beautiful and powerful generators. I'll start packing for Spring Carlisle tomorrow. If you need a Ford generator model T through late V8, stop by and see me at IG 14-17. I'm with Fred Wicker who always has a nice selection of model A and flathead V8 parts.

Today I uncovered my A from putting it away in Oct for a long winter nap. All I did was have a battery tender (on a timer) and StayBil in the gas tank. Turned over once and fired right up, ran like a champ. Can't wait to go cruising!

I think I would go thru withdrawals if my Town Sedan had to hibernated that long...

Popped in a new set of autolite plugs, checked timing and point gap, and went for a nice drive and coffee at a nice outdoor patio. Ice cream time soon!

Yesterday while traveling to a dear friend and club memebr's memorial service at Forest Lawn Cemetary, my Town Sedan was rear endend by a lady "taking pictures of your beautiful car"...

So today I spent taking the trunk, rack, rear bumpers & brackets, spare tire and various other parts off the back of my car to ascertain what parts are damaged, what can be repaired and what needs to be replaced. Not one of my better days.

Be careful out there, folks!

So sorry man. I hope that everything can be repaired and not have to be replaced.

In between a garden supply trip to Lowe's and restaking all the tomato plants due to high winds, I removed the Marvel carb and replaced it with a Zenith. Then, back to the garden....

Haven't fired up the car yet. Might be tomorrow. Still need to install the new speedo cable.
