Default oil

Hi, I been using Shell Rotella 15/40 in my 1955 Fairlane.I noticed you can get that oil in a Synthetic Blend. Not fully synthetic. But a blend. Is it OK to use that or not? Thank You.

O boy, an oil question. Melting the butter for my popcorn now.

Seriously, there’s several synthetic and dinosaur based oils designed for flat tappet engines. That’s probably a better choice than Rotella these days. I ran it myself years ago, and by the 5 gallon cans in the marine diesels. No more.

I’m using Driven HR2. My engine builder/dyno guy likes their line for vintage racing cars. He’s done a lot of them. You can read their marketing info here, and look at the whole line. But I think most main line companies (like Lucas, etc) also have a product.
