Hello Ford Barn,
Will a 1946 Ford business coupe headliner fit a sedan coupe?

I don't think it will fit. The business coupe has shorter doors and smaller quarter windows. If you look at the roof it is somewhat shorter. If you have the sedan coupe purchase the correct headliner.

I just opened a bag that had a LeBaron Bonney headliner in it. MICE. Bagged since 1992. I am now searching for a replacement one for the business coupe. It is amazing the misinformation that vendors have. I wish they would classify the bodies as 72 or 77 as Henry did. Or say long door or short door. But to say Super Deluxe, pick your color does not help. Hopefully after today with some pictures and texts to someone interested in helping, I will get an answer. I will keep you updated.

SHORTDOOR--Vendors can only sell what they have. Don't be too hard on them--some are knowledgeable experts and some are, well, "salesmen".
To guard against misinformation, you need to become the expert, and know what questions to ask and what are the correct answers.
( This applies to much more than old cars)

With the mouse ridden liner, I'd suggest you take that to a good upholstery shop near you and have them sew a replacement. That is, if you can confirm what you have will fit your car.
Headliners, especially with a good pattern, are fairly easy to replicate.

I can think of three vendors that actually know what they are talking about, and have extensive knowledge about V8 parts. The problem with everything these days is, generally speaking, we have gotten dumb. It's becoming a serious problem to find anyone that has experience and knowledge about almost any subject matter. The level of customer service has also sank to about a 1 on a 10 scale for a lot of places. People do not care anymore. I don't know if the past generation just did not pass along the info, or the younger generation just did not give a damn and were to self absorbed? I'm 45 and a lot of people my age and younger are not a lot of use to me. I can tell you locally, it's all about sports. There is nothing wrong with that but being able to shoot free throws ain't gonna help you fix your plumbing or wire a 3-way light switch. It's hopeless.

yup kube is right on. SO don't throw that one you got away they will use it as pattern.

I'd just looked through an old Lebaron catalog and it lists the sedan coupe and the five-window coupe using the same headliner.
Me? I'd do some measuring of the kit you have and compare to the headliner you have before having the mice ridden piece reproduced.

I mocked the mouse holed one in and it fits. Red parts book calls for 4 full length bows, the sedan coupe 5 full. The problem is the picture the company I am talking with, are using on their website showing a full-length bow in the middle of the quarter window. Mine does not have that and this LeBaron Bonney piece I have does not have it. The detailed installation sheet does not call out one in the middle of the window either.

I went hunting for a headliner vendor. After dealing with confusion with a couple, eBay vendor "okheadliners" fixed me up. Sample matched the restoration guide, no issues with long door/ short door, model 72/77, or business coupe/ sedan coupe. It arrived very quickly. Price was good. The alternative of buying material and finding someone with a sewing machine just would have been super expensive. Trial fit reveals a match to the car. Extra material for the visors and drops was included. I recommend this vendor.
