Old hoses come apart on the inside and after a few applications the wheel locks up then after it sets awhile it slowly releases. Next time you drive feel for a hot drum/wheel after driving and applying brakes a few times.

Happened to me many years ago. Thankfully, had a very astute parts guy/friend who set me straight.
