Did 33-34 big trucks utilize the b-6028 steady rods from crossmember to flywheel housing same as cars? Working one that is missing those Thnx

That's a good question because I have a '34 firetruck. It's not running but it is complete and the rods are "not" there. I bought it to restore, but since I had a stroke I doubt that will ever happen. I have '32 cars and a '34 pickup, they all have the rods. The Ford Dealer parts book list one part number for '32-'34 passenger, commercial and truck. On the right side of my '34 1 1/2 trunk with a PTO trans, the PTO hangs out past where the rods would bolt to the back of the motor. There is no way to use them on that truck. Even if it did not have the trans with the PTO in the way of the engine stabilizer rods, they might not have used them on all the big trucks because they have normal rear springs. one on each side, unlike the '32-'34 cars and pickups with single rear spring. It's still strange the parts book list one part number for '32-'34 cars, pickups and "trucks".

1932-1934 BB Trucks did not use engine steady rods.
According to the 1928-1935 Ford Chassis Parts book, the part you mention B-6038 was used only in Model 18 cars and 46 pickups.

Did the BB truck have a travers rear spring and inclosed drive shaft? If not the rods would serve no purpose. I'm just starting to get into the big trucks. Tim

This is getting confusing. The first post is asking about B-6028 engine radius rod assembly, post three shows part B-6038 engine upper front support insulator and I see 40-6044 and 46-6044 engine radius rod.

B-6028 is what im interested in. I suspect the green book is wrong about application on trucks. From what i can make out from the bb chassis pics in service bulletins, they are not visible

The steady rods are there to dampenengine movement from the forward thrust transmitted to the engine via the inclosed drive shaft which stablizes the rear end when a travers rear sping is used. Is this correct or am I missing something?
