Default Autolite is closing down - Buy your 3076 spark plugs now

I know a number of Model A owners who like and even prefer to run Autolite 3076 spark plugs in the As they drive. Well, Autolite spark plugs is closing down as part of the First Brands bankruptcy. A number of our Model A vendors have some in stock, like Bert's and Sacramento. There are also plenty of auto parts retailers that have these plugs in stock currently, such as AutoZone, Advance, O'Reilly's, etc. If you like running the Autolite 3076 plugs, you may want to pick up a couple of sets at your favorite A vendor or nearest auto parts retailer.

I used some old style plugs to make 14 mm adaptors. The modern plugs are cheaper by far, readily available and likely to stay that way. It's a no brainer for me with my driver cars.

The local AutoZone had zero in stock, didn't normally carry them due to lack of demand (one has to make a cut-point somewhere) and the nearest was found in Manchester, NH. Couldn't get four but if I wanted one they might be able to get it middle of next week.

The local O'Reilly's didn't have them in stock (low demand) but could have four in by tomorrow afternoon - they'll call when they're in.

Amazon and most other sources were not checked for availability but price listed was 2X or more the Auto Parts store price. And Amazon tended to "shift" you onto imported competitors of the same pattern/size - without saying it was a substitution until you get to the "drill-in" page.

I was able to order a 10-pack off Amazon for about $55, or $5.50 each. Reasonable, but we’ll see if they ever show up.

Not to do a one-up (not the point) but AutoZone is $2.89 and O'Reilly's is $2.99 each. Considered by Google AI as the "low price."

Of course there are those TT-10s still hanging around in parts-land.

Otherwise known as "Stranded Investment."

Well, my 10-pack of 3076 plugs did arrive. So now I have enough for 2-1/2 plug changes. I didn't think that one through very well...

Anyone need a couple of spark plugs? PM me.

Order another box of 10 then you'll have enough for 5 plug changes

The newest plugs I have in my A's are 12 years old.My 30 pickup has plugs I bought in 1975.I have 3 or 4 new extra sets,so I'm not going to worry about it.I have some NOS Firestone plugs that are useless.Hook them to the strap, put your finger on the electrode and crank it over.I feel nothing. They just don't pass juice.

Saw a MAFCA Facebook post mentioning this today. Ordered (8) of them @2.99 each from my local O'Reilly store. They'll be shipped to store for free pickup.

My eight 3076 arrived at the local O'Reilly's today. Now picked up.

So they are out there - but don't expect every place will have them - or can get them.

Add them to the TT-10 box. They're more or less identical in appearance.

(TT-10 seem to have been a "Motorcraft Ford" product. Although some exist under an Autolite Label.)

Somewhere online there is a link to a listing of "substitute" plugs for the Model A/Model T. Unfortunately it appears on one of the "other" hobbyist automotive sites - and they want you to "sign in" before doing a download.

Of course signing in requires membership/emails/queries/pleas for support.

I like clubs and sharing of information, but can't there be a limit to how many?

Does anyone have any alternative lists/references?

Do the TT10's have longer reach for high compression heads ? The 3076 electrode reach is for stock head's thread depths , but is recessed in some h.c heads..

I have a Motorcraft TT-10 and a Autolite 3076 in my hands.

They're EXACTLY the same plug. Even look the same except for the name in the porcelain.

"Interchange" lists abound. Check out https://www.sparkplug-crossreference.com

In reality, all of the pre-2000 year spark plugs are going away. I have used spark plug adapters to run 14mm spark plugs in the past, but I returned to the original size 18mm plugs. My concern is the position of the sparks in the combustion chambers. I suspect that the adapters raise the spark higher into the chamber in effect making the plug perform colder than its rating.
I find that the 18mm plugs last indefinitely, and I have a significant supply of Motorcraft TT10 plugs to last for my lifetime. From the coloration of the TT10 plugs in my engines, I find their heat range is just right for 4.22 to 6:1 compression ratios and 87 Octane Ethanol polluted gasoline.
