Warbirdphotog, your mentioning a possible redo of the cell tops due to a suggestion that they were too tall. I'll refer you to my post #20 from last year on how I made my Ford LF: I used 1/16" ABS for the battery top, with 3/16" ABS on top of that for the cells. This makes the total thickness exactly ¼", which provided the needed additional space for the terminals. If you decide to do a remake, consider also using actual tar on the cell surrounds for authenticity? One more tip, the gold paint is easily applied with a rubber hobby roller.

As for the gold, I actually tried it with a rubber hobby roller, funny enough, and it looked terrible! So I switched to the spray paint after that.

I wanted to post a comparison of the real battery and my 3D printed on. As mentioned, at some point I'll head back up to the Early Ford Parts store to borrow the real battery again and get some side by sides.

MAN!! What an AMAZING job you did on this. You are a man with some serious determination. I've seen a lot of 3D Printed parts but nothing with this kind of detail. WOW!

Thank you! I enjoy creating things like this. Although it was a headache at many points, it was worth it!

That's a cool battery! And a lot easier to build than what I did (no 'star texture'). But I'd need all the measurement specs of the actual battery to build it. I was lucky with the '40 Ford Battery that the Early Ford Parts Store had one I could borrow for a few weeks to study and measure.
