When I sold my '38, i let it go with an original Ford script lockable gas cap, the one with the rivet. It's chrome was intact but showed the years, as you would expect. I got to thinking after the fact that the buyer was a relative know-nothing and likely would replace it with a shiny new Drake cap, chucking the old cap in the trash. I wake in the night with a shudder from those chilling dreams.
