The Ford Barn

Bought a 29 roadster from an estate, frame and drivetrain appears to be done and painted, body, hood, fenders, all painted. Got numerous parts, body blocks and rubber. No bolts. Body is just setting on frame. What books have best detailed pictures and instructions? New to antique cars, just an old Drag racer here trying to build a car for my wife. Any help is much appreciated.

It will be a great experience and you will need help. Find a club near you, MAFCA and MARC . Get some local help. Bill

For books, I would go with the Les Andrews series. Those are on the typical vendors, my preferred one is Snyders. If you need any books, I would recommend you at least get Volume #1 to help you with the mechanics of the 'A'.

Go to MARC's website look for regions, as said above, lots of local clubs (regions) in MI.

MAFCA or MARC or both. They're all good. You'll be a good step ahead if the body is already close to being put on the frame. Bolts kits are available from sources and 3rd Gen Automotive took over Roy Nacewicz's Ford Bolts and the manufacture of such.

The Les Andrew's red volume 1 Model A Manual is good for instructions & illustrations. Not much on photos but there are all sorts of that stuff on the internet. Ask questions here and a lot of folks will respond.

Going stock is what most of us do here. That's not to say we don't hot rod stuff but the brother site HAMB is better in tune for AV8 conversions and such. I play with both myself so no judgement here.

Check to make sure the frame is straight before you put on the body.There are good illustrations available to show where to shim the body blocks to help get the doors to fit properly.Its always fun to have a roadster. Good luck and welcome to the barn.
