Hi there,
I am looking to transport three old Fords from Southern California to Oak Hill W. VA. Sometime in late March, early April. Does any one have a suggestion? D. Stewart La Verne, CA. 909-656-0035 |

Passport. Period.
I had Reliable stand me up at the very last minute even though they kept promising "we will be there". It became obvious that a contract with them meant little / nothing. Blue Highways was considerably cheaper when I moved four coupes at once. They were terrible from start to finish. Too many reasons why to list here. A nightmare. There's a guy that posts a lot on the Barn that supposably trailers cars but after asking three separate times and getting "gee, I can't do that", well, I figure he can't be counted on. I have used Passport perhaps two dozen times. VERY good service. If you can schedule in advance and don't need specific dates of pickup and drop off, you will save considerably.

i don't doubt it...
i've had no experience with passport, but i've heard they don't use the internet bulletin board broker/driver website new york stock exchange type arrangement of bidders and buyers like most of the transport companies do. and that in its own right is reason enough in my book, but rather, have their own trucks and drivers. and if so it's a much, much better arrangement. because i've had occasion to have three cars transported from 2000-5000 miles on several occasions using the bidder/buyer arrangement and you'll never know what kind of service you'll get, and if it's bad, and a third of mine have been bad, there's little or nothing you'll be able to do about it. as the broker is long gone with your money and couldn't care less. and most likely the drivers are too. |

I have had clients deliver their cars to me utilizing brokers. A few had trailers that I would be fearful to haul scrap metal in. Passport uses professional drivers that have always been super respectful of my cars. The company is fully bonded and the agreed replacement value is agreed upon up front.

Brokers s UCK.
Make sure you know the same person & rig have your baby from start to finish. You want no unloading, storage, reloading to another driver / rig. A simple Apple Air Tag , or other smart device, is cheap backup piece of mind insurance , so that you know who has your precious cargo. Good Luck Sir . |

IT appears, IF you ask enough of a sample size you will get NO definitive answer.
From my experience, Reliable transported our German 32 Ford from Florida to Pebble Beach and back with out a hitch. The only change in our arrangement that we had was.....and they called as soon as it was apparent to them...the driver ran into some unusually heavy traffic on top of the previous load up to Us, took longer than expected SO they had to push our pick-up time to the following morning. That was a blessing from above for Us......as it allowed us one more day to prep and make sure the car was ready and packed with all we needed for the trip to No Cal. They were very professional and accommodating once we got to the show as to loading/unloading and storing the car (as needed) for 4 plus days we were out there. ALL the time schedules for arrival and departure after pick-up were right on Que. This was just one experience with one car SO....from the what its worth department & IF this helps you? |

For my most recent old car transport, I used James Jones Transport. (810) 308-1387
They were very professional and could secure a truck-closed trailer for pickup within just a day or two. When (if!!!) the need arises again, I will give them a shout out. |
